I have been a huge Elvis Costello fan since I picked up a copy of This Year’s Model sometime after college. North is quite a bit different than his earlier efforts with The Attractions, and Burt Bacharach. I have to say that I enjoyed When I Was Cruel quite a bit more than North. The songs are very well done, but few of them are interesting enough for me to remember when the album isn’t playing. The standouts are “You Turned to Me”, “Fallen” and “Still”. With “Still” being my favorite. “Let Me Tell You About Her” is also good, but feels very sappy to me right now. Perhaps being married for a year has sucked the romanticism out of me. No that’s not it, I have always been afraid of getting cavities from anything this sugary.

The Brown Daily Herald is carrying an open letter from Chris Song to baseball commissioner Bud Selig requesting a loser’s series between the Cubs and the Red Sox. I just want to know where I sign up to back this request.

For some reason my Mom seriously believes that the National Do Not Call Registry is a hoax, yet she told me that putting electrical tape over the VIN on my car will keep it from getting stolen.

You have to wonder why the Phrase Finder includes “As old as Methuselah” and “As old as the hills“, but not “Old as rope“!

I hate my job,
I hate not being able to plan my life.
And for good measure, I hate the Boston Red Sox.
HATE hate HATE.

However, I love this article on what pre-teens think of the video games I grew up with.

DNA research seems to indicate that the Welsh and the Basques originated in Siberia! Very interesting!

I am a very firm believer that people should eat what they want to eat. However, I also feel that everyone should be well educated in where there food comes from. It is under that belief that I provide a link to the Slaughter House Cam. Of course I do have issues with the fact that they aren’t REALLY web cams, but a series of images arranged as if they were coming from a webcam, but hey now you are warned on that front. The images are pretty graphic, so I guess are now warned on two fronts (and maybe a back).
