ArabNews has an interesting article on the effects of the Saudization of the workforce in Saudi Arabia. A new law (or perhaps set of laws) reserves all jobs in some fields (Taxi operators) and a percentage of jobs in other fields for Saudis. The intent is to combat the huge jobless numbers of Saudi nationals.

I’ll let you draw your own conclusions as to whether this effort will benefit anyone in the country.

We all know the weather in the DC Metro area has been miserable this spring. The Washington Post has some numbers to quantify your misery!

This is best summary I have found of my view on politics and life. I have bolded the ‘life’ portion for emphasis.

“To summarize: it is a well known fact, that those people who most want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it. To summarize the summary: anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job. To summarize the summary of the summary: people are a problem.â€

Katherine and I have been living in Vienna, VA for just over 6 months now. We haven’t gotten many of our home improvement projects finished, but we have found quite a few local establishments. Some of these places are so good that I am not sure how I got along without them.

Hopefully those of you in the DC Metro will get a chance to try these places, and maybe it will convince some of our friends in far away places to come visit. Did I mention that we do have a usable guest room now? It even has a bed (although the comfy couch is still available if needed!)

I first noticed Pie Gourmet when I dropped Murray off for grooming before the wedding. It is hidden behind a bank in a little shopping center where Nutley St. meets 123. We have tried the spinach quiche, the broccoli cauliflower quiche, and a couple of the fruit pies. They were all FABULOUS!

Like the majority of Americans I leaned toward giving the President the benefit of the doubt regarding chemical and biological weapons in Iraq. So what happens if he was intentionally misleading the American public and the World? John W. Dean is glad that you asked, check out his latest article at findlaw.com.

I’ll be outside of Detroit in Dearborn, MI for the month of June. I will be home most weekends, but will finally get a chance to bring Katherine up and spend a weekend with Paul and Holly in Ann Arbor! Now that I can safely get back to my hotel without getting lost I need to make it down to AA during the week as well.

Sorry for not getting back to people via email, I have actually had work to do!

An interesting article from the Washington Post on disease transmission on aircraft. It is a bit disturbing for me as a frequent flyer that my chance of catching an upper respiratory infection may be four times average (assuming long flights that is).

Maybe I should start wearing a mask.
