Idiomatic Expression

I upgraded to wp2.6 to fix the comment counter, and it broke support for Chinese characters and lost all of my category names. Hopefully i will figure out how to fix that in my spare time…

UPDATE
Figured out the character set issue, and I was able to rename most of my categories. Anyone know what this category might have been?

UPDATE 2
Gallery is broken, no baby pictures til that gets figured out.

I am finally upgraded to a modern version of Wordpress (2.1). I was on 1.5.

Only problems I have had to track down was where they put the links (blogroll) and why the link categories changed.

The only reason I upgraded was to get the ability to imbed Gallery2, and as you can see, that isn’t working so well.

Alright, up and running on the new server now.

Taiwan pictures are ready to upload, but Katherine has kidnapped my mac for a business trip.

Hopefully more to come soon.

300 is the highest score in bowling and the lowest possible credit score. That can’t possibly be a coincidence. This is also my 300th entry on Idiomatic Expression.

In other news it is New Years Eve, everyone party likes its 2005!

I have actually been busy supporting clients for two weeks in a row! With the three hour round-trip commute that has not left much time for me to waste by updating the blog or even keeping up on the news.

The new galleries are finally finished. There are a couple of new photo sets up. Let me know if you have any problems with the galleries.

Well it is the start of another month, and therefore time to start planning for another move! This move should be a bit easier as I am changing servers, but keeping the same domain name and software. Piranha-Fury has outgrown its current tank and will be moving to a faster server, and I get to ride Mike’s coat-tails onto a 2.8 GHz Xeon box. The new system looks great, and will give me the ability to administrate my own IP address including adding sub domains as needed.

Hopefully the move will also allow us to get GD compiled into PHP to further my work on integrating Simple PHP Gallery into my site as a replacement for the current photo album approach.

The observation deck of Taipei 101 is finally open! It had not opened on my last trip to Taiwan, so I was interested to see that someone had posted pictures from the top of the building. Although the pictures were taken while the building was under construction, I am sure the view would be pretty similiar if I could actually get to Taipei this summer.

As this is my first official non site update post, I guess this is my new home! The old entries will be imported soon, until they can still be found at randy.amber.org.

The background photo is from an area in Seattle’s Pikes Place Market where bills and posters are hung.

I am also working on some comment plugins to force moderation of comments on posts with no activity for 7 days. Let me know if you see any strange behavior with this, or if posts less than 7 days old don’t immediatly display comments.
