See it doesn’t count unless you go and check it out yourself. We are looking at facts here, not opinions. Or at least opinions supported by horrible sales rankings. There has to be a book rated something like 1,000,001!
Damn James, that is impressive. Someone else has to have the free time at work to get that number up to 1,000,000. Although my picks for unpopular books all seem to come with no sales ranking.
At least we can see that people still hate the Germans!
First of all, the Library of Congress gets its copy of every book direct from the publishers; why would it order the book from BN.com?
Second? BN.com’s sales rankings have a time component. That is, they refer to how many books have been sold on the site recently. (I don’t know what the discount factor for time is.) At one point my book (referred to by Jenny above) was in the 30,000s; and I know this represented more than two books, because when I needed a half-dozen copies quickly once I ordered them there. (That was not when the book hit the 30,000s.) Eventually, with (presumably) no new sales recently, it dropped down into the 400,000s, where many academic books reside for most of their print run.

I’d vote for Ann Coulter’s piece of crap self serving diatribe on herself.

Ann Coulter’s book Slander: Liberal Lies about the American Right is currently ranked 120. I know you can find a less popular book than that!

Yeah, but this would entail more hits on BN’s ad-ridden website. It’s not as bad as amazon, but still…

Apparently people are much more interested in the Chinese than the Germans. This is the least popular I have been able to find in the Chinese section.
Chinese 1000: Idiomatic and Colloquial Expressions - Mandarin Chinese/English
Which is good enough for second place.

Uh oh!
We may have a winner the book, I think the low ranking may be a partial result of having a typo in the title

Golden Bowl (sounds way too much like Colon Blow), which ranks at 662,352.
I’m wondering if it peters out in the 600’s. After a certain point, you just run into books with no sales rank whatsoever.
