We headed back to Hawaii for another family ceremony. The good thing about traveling westward on your birthday is that it lasts just a little bit longer.

Happy Birthday!
Are you going back to Oahu? Say “hi” to the big pink building in Honolulu, should you swing through. (Tripler Navy Hospital, where I was born!)

Wow Holly, I didn’t know you were born in Oahu. Of course it makes sense with the Navy Kid status. Do you remember any of the Island?

We lived in Ewa Beach, on the other side of the island from the naval station. My Dad was at sea pretty much all the time when we were there and my Mom was completely alone. Apparently, it was around this time when I thought that “Da-da” was the tape player (which my Mom used to play the audio tapes that my Dad would sent from the ships.)
I don’t remember much about the island. My most vivid memory of Oahu is falling on the wide, white stone steps of the Hawaiian monument (name escapes me…)
